Feb 17 was also the date of the New Moon Lunar eclipse in Aquarius

Independence is a theme, of course. But since Aquarius is community-oriented, there’s an added emphasis on "detached interdependence," where we can celebrate one another for our unique individual expression while really getting that the sum is greater than its parts.

This theme continues, with the Sun (as well as Mercury and Venus ) in the sign of Pisces, bringing compassion, spiritual elevation and emotional expression to the fore…

It's an eventful time in the Astrological calendar. The week builds towards the New Moon in Aquarius on Feb 17 and the first eclipse in the Aquarius/Leo axis. At the same time, we're ushering in the Year of the Fire Horse.

First up though is Saturn's ingress into fire sign Aries on February 13, where it will remain until early 2028.)

This week represents a pivot point as a number of planets prepare to change signs.
Mercury and Venus have been orbiting in close proximity to each other in the sign of Aquarius, highlighting the more detached and logical approach of this sign.

This week builds towards a powerful Full Moon in the sign of Leo, standing across the sky from five planets in Aquarius: The Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars and of course, Pluto. Pluto is also harmonizing with Neptune, now in Aries through 2038/39.

The Leo Full Moon is a preview of sorts as well, considering in February there will be a New Moon Solar eclipse in Aquarius, the first in the series of eclipses taking place along the Leo/Aquarius axis over the course of the next 18 months or so…

This past week we had the New Moon in late Cap, followed by a major changeover: Venus, the the Sun and Mercury joined left Capricorn for Aquarius. Mars will also move into that sign on the 23rd.

Pluto of course, has been navigating the sign of Aquarius full time since late 2024 and all the planets mentioned will conjunct this planet, bringing with it a deeply felt sense of change. …

For those who mark the New Year on January 1st, wishing you a very happy new year!

Even if you resonate more with the Lunar New Year it could feel like a fresh slate in many respects, despite four planets in Capricorn, an ambitious driven sign but one that is firmly grounded in an awareness of what has come before and makes decisions from that place.

This week we're wrapping up a 9 year-cycle as we head into January 2026 and a Universal 1 year of new beginnings.

Three slower-moving planets have been advancing in and out of their new signs in 2025 (Saturn and Neptune from Pisces to Aries; Uranus from Taurus to Gemini — and back again) and all three planets will complete their changeovers in 2026.

The next several years will see all the outer planets, plus Saturn transiting through fire and air signs.

So, it's fitting that we close out the year with three planets in the sign of Capricorn. It's a time to take stock…

As mentioned last week, this New Moon in Sag on the 19th comes square with Neptune in Pisces. The energy declines before a new moon and the last few days have been especially heart-breaking, so i'll just take a moment to wish everyone a bit of extra peace and comfort at this time.

This is the last New Moon of 2025 and the last few days of the Sun's tour of Sagittarius as we move towards the Sun's ingress into Capricorn December 21 and the powerful time of the Solstice (Winter or Summer depending of course on where you are on the planet.) ….
